You may recall this photo of me in the doorway in Santa Fe, wearing this cool, black, knitted shawl type thing when I posted photos of our recent trip. My artist friend Joyce commented on the blog about how much she loved the shawl and asked me to do a sketch of it, so she could see what it really looked like, shape and all and how it worked. So, Joyce, this is for you. You will note in the photo you can see all 3 buttons. In the sketch, I simply laid the shawl out on a table in front of me and drew it, so I only could see 2 of the buttons since the 3rd one was covered up, but you can see the shape of the item so much better in the sketch than in the photo.

This is my line drawing of the shawl. It is made out of knitted black wool and is about 60 inches long by 16 inches wide, so you basically throw it on around your shoulders, button one of the large wooden buttons and you are good to go. I wore this out to Geronimos for dinner in Santa Fe, which is a very high end restaurant and it looked great, just put in on over a simple black top that I had. By the way, I am wearing gloves that come up over my elbows so you may get the feeling that this shawl has sleeves...no it is the long gloves, grey and black.
Hope you enjoy the sketch...especially Joyce...Hey, see you in Atlanta in July!!
best,
carol
Carol! What a great surprise to see a post just for me! It's funny, when I noticed this on you in the photo, I recalled a time when I was rummaging through the yarn section at Michael's and got to chit-chatting with a nice lady also looking for yarn, and she had one of these on. I thought it was so cool and she was nice enough to let me snap a few photos of it. I don't knit, but I do like to crochet, so I think (in my spare time... ha!) I'll try to make one. It's just so chic! As always, you look fabulous, dahlink! Thanks for taking the time to do this and giving me the measurements too. Looking forward to Atlanta. :~)
