I had just changed my banner up above on my blog here to begin to welcome spring when along came these two new samples from Home Comfort Rugs this weekend. This is the company that I license my artwork to for area rugs. A charming little beach village on the road to the ocean is a design that I created that they liked and licensed. It is just so much fun that it happens to fit in so nicely in my new studio that is painted a beautiful ocean blue like the sky in the rug. The rugs are so playful and full of color and I love the great texture that each one has. You can see the inspiration for the rug in my little spring village at the beach.
I had seen both of these rugs including this new fish one while I was in Atlanta for the gift show, but the artist's samples are just now arriving along with a couple of nice royalty checks for rug orders that they wrote from the show. Always nice to get a check in the mail especially when you are not expecting one. Had a great weekend. The Captain went into Boston to the boat show with a friend from work...came home all excited about a new boat he liked and it was only $470,000....hey guys, that's a lot of rug sales!! I had an art licensing consultation on Saturday which is always enjoyable, an artist from New Hampshire came down to the studio here in Marblehead to meet with me for the afternoon. She wants to switch gears a bit with her artwork and enter into the licensing arena. It is very rewarding to be able to educate and guide artists who want to learn more about this exciting field. Since I have been giving lectures and seminars on the subject and licensing my work for over 20+ years, what better way is there to learn about any subject that to spend time with an experienced teacher who is knowledgeable. Then the Captain and I went out for dinner, spent some time at Barnes and Noble looking through travel books... and went for a nice walk. The weather has been wonderful, in the 40's and no snow and really quite mild for New England in February. But it is time to start thinking about the springtime and places to wander to... And just one more note........HEY PAULA, when you are not adding another stick of butter to your recipes, please keep this in mind>>>>>>>>>>>>>these designs are not up for grabs so don't even think about putting your name on them, OK? more later, carol
